CAHSI is a networked community of students, faculty, administrators and other professionals committed to accelerating the achievements of students computing. CAHSI is a national NSF INCLUDES Alliance that spans the U.S. and Puerto Rico. New Mexico State University is committed to increasing opportunities for students who have an interest and passion for computing.
The CAHSI was formed in 2004 as a grassroots effort to increase the number of students who pursue and complete baccalaureate and advanced degrees in computing fields. The Alliance is continually informed and enhanced through social science research and reflection of proven and promising practices.
  • We Believe in preparing students with the technical qualifications and real-world experiences to shape the future of computing.
  • We Believe in growing a geographically dispersed network of partners to achieve lasting results.
  • Challenge students’ knowledge so that they are positioned to thrive in the workforce;
  • Support pedagogical and professional growth for those who can impact students;
  • Expand meaningful partnerships that align with strategic regional and national efforts; and
  • Inform policy through evidence.
  • Mentorships, Scholarships, Internships, and Fellowships
  • Technical and Professional Development Workshops
  • Academic and Professional Networks
  • Access to the annual Great Minds in STEM (GMiS) Conference and Activities
Students can access CAHSI resources in a number of ways:

  • Become a CAHSI Student Advocate at their campus. Student Advocates disseminate CAHSI news and opportunities on their campus, organize activities to involve students with CAHSI, and work to identify ways to connect incoming students to the field of computing.
  • Attend the CAHSI Summit co-located within the Great Minds in STEM Conference. This conference provides opportunities for students to connect with industry leaders, compete in hackathon and data analytics competitions, present their research in the poster competition, and meet students and faculty from across the U.S.
  • Visit the CAHSI website regularly to access an events calendar and online student resources.
